News from CODARUS Dallas Design Center:
CODARUS moving to Dallas Design District (3/22/2017)

Trade-only showroom will open in Dallas Design Center in August

CODARUS is moving out of the Dallas Market Center and into the Dallas Design Center, in a to-the-trade-only showroom space in the heart of the iconic Dallas Design District. CODARUS CEO and creative directory Cody Ables told Home Accents Today that the new showroom, at 14,000 square feet, will better accommodate CODARUS’ growing interior design and retail base, elevate the daily shopping experience, and provide a collaborative environment in which the company’s customers and product partners can grow.

Since CODARUS’ founding in January 2005, the national sales organization’s roster of high-end product partners has grown to include Abyss & Habidecor, Annie Selke Companies, AVE Home,Barbara Cosgrove Lamps, Handley Drive, John Robshaw, Lili Alessandra, Moss Studio, Pom Pom at Home, Soicher Marin and Square Feathers Home. CODARUS will also add Regina Andrew Design as a home décor / lighting partner in its Dallas showroom and in select territories throughout the U.S.

The company’s new Dallas Design Center showroom will open its doors Aug. 1, 2017, with an opening celebration to follow sometime in early September. “Dallas Market Center has been our home for nearly 13 years, but in order to better serve our high-end retailers and designers, it was time to make a change,” Ables said. “We are excited to be able to grow and offer our innovative product partners a fresh space to display their latest designs as well as a curated experience for our designers and retailers.“

In addition to its current product partners, CODARUS will be launching a new collaboration with the JAMES Showroom, founded by nationally-recognized interior designer Meredith Ellis, principal of Meredith Ellis Design. JAMES, whose flagship boutique showroom is located in a 1930s craftsman bungalow in Austin, Texas, will occupy over 1,100 square feet in the new location as a showroom-within-a-showroom. JAMES will be showcasing 26 high-end fabric and wallpaper lines it represents throughout the state of Texas, including Sister Parish, Lisa Fine, Jennifer Shorto, Tulu Textiles, Ferrick Mason, Kathryn Ireland, Studio Four NYC, and Elson & Company. “We are thrilled to bring our incredible roster of vendors to the Dallas Design Center and the talented design community it serves,” Ellis said. “By collaborating with our friends at CODARUS, we will be able to better service our rapidly growing designer clientele in North Texas and beyond, and bring an incredible array of resources together under one roof.”

Interior designer Denise McGaha will be assisting Ables with the design of the new showroom. “With her knowledge of retail and design talent, Denise – one of the top designers in the U.S. – is the ideal partner to bring the CODARUS vision to life,” he said. Owned and managed by Dunhill Partners, the Dallas Design District – a 33-acre, 700,000-sq.-ft. property – and its investors last month received a $120 million loan from J.P. Morgan Chase to consolidate and refinance the property, which has increased significantly in value since Dunhill acquired it three years ago. Last year, Mark Cuban acquired a portion of the district for his Mavericks’ new practice facility, and in October construction began on Dallas’ first Virgin Hotel. Credited with breathing new life into the area, Dunhill president Bill Hutchinson recently told D Magazine, “I think that the Design District is going to go down as my legacy. Of all the deals I’ve done throughout all the years, this has really come home to me as what I’m most passionate about and most excited about. We plan on making this the coolest destination in the city.”
